Enough With The Hate

For those of you reading this blog that are Big Brother fans, I'm sure you know about the goings on in the house this season (15). For those of you who don't, let me break this down quickly for you. It has nothing to do with the game whatsoever. To make a long story short, some of the houseguests (Aaryn, Spencer and GinaMarie) have been caught on the live feeds saying very derogatory, racist, bigoted things. It has opened up a can of worms 'round the world, as well as old wounds that are making many people feel as if they are decades back in history. The scariest part is that these are YOUNG people. These are the people who should be fighting AGAINST the things that they seem to be promoting in the house. It scares me to think that any of them are going to spawn children of their own and teach them the same things that are coming out of their own mouths. It's even scarier to think that deep down they HAVEN'T forgotten that there are a zillion cameras on them 24/7. Since they've GOT to be SOMEWHAT mindful of that (I would hope), it really makes you think "What in the hell are they saying OUTSIDE of the house?" Some hateful things have been said in past seasons, but it's out of control this season and we've barely just begun!

I've had friendly debates with fellow Big Brother fans about this already, so I figured I'd give you all my take. I don't like what's going on in the house. I despise what's going on, actually. I may be in some kind of twisted fantasy when I say this, but I truly cannot wait for the day when we can all be judged SOLELY on the content of our character. I hate that anyone is judged by the color of their skin, the clothes they wear, or anything of the exterior as a matter of fact. I was born with a physical challenge, so it's always been my nature to only associate with those who can see ME as a person and see PAST the chair. That's how I look at ALL differences. It was brought to my attention that some people don't want you to forget whatever their difference is because they are proud of it. That's fine, in fact I'm proud of my accomplishments as a person in a wheelchair. HOWEVER, I do not want that to be the basis of what I'm seen as and I'm inclined to believe no one else would either. I think it's downright silly in 2013 for a minority race to boast about their race, just as it's always been silly for a white person to boast about their race. WHO CARES ABOUT RACE? Too many people and no one SHOULD anymore. That does not mean any of us are discounting what USED to happen in history, but we should be PROUD of where we are going. Unfortunately, some people are going backward.

As a fan of Big Brother, I personally feel that to compare ANY of the behavior of Aaryn, GinaMarie or Spencer, to that of Evel Dick (winner of Big Brother 8), is WAY off the mark! He may no have been the nicest person but he was never low enough to be a racist. In fact, if I recall, he made a comment about the hunger issues in Africa and it offended Jameka, a fellow houseguest during season 8. He apologized profusely and explained to her he meant no harm in his comments and it wasn't meant to offend her or anyone. He OWNED UP to his MISTAKE in speaking and how it was received by others and he played a damn good game! These houseguests this season are denying they even say anything! They're denying being hateful and racist! Hello...MULTIPLE CAMERAS throughout the ENTIRE house...including the bathroom, right at the bathtub while some of you idiots are shaving your privates! Use the shower!

But I digress. The houseguests this season don't seem to care who they offend. I cannot wait for Julie Chen, who is Asian herself, to face some of these people. I want her to speak her mind! Karma is already setting the stage, because some were dropped from their jobs (thank God). I could go on and on about this, but I will close in giving you the title of my first book...EVERYONE'S DIFFERENT, GET OVER IT!
