New Year, New Start

I’ve had the pull and call to restart this blog, but with an even bigger vision. I’ve been thinking of my brand over all, the message I want to spread and the difference I want to make.

The message will remain the same - mind, body, heart and spirit wellness. But it’s a vision, not just a blog. I want to start doing webinars, masterclasses, and many more things along those lines.

The last few years have had many ups and downs for me, just as it has for all of us. It has made me believe, even more strongly, in the tools I use to get through those times.

One of the things I’ve done and am very proud of is creating and launching my very first meditation - Push Past Paralysis in Mind Body Heart and Soul. You can find the meditation here: https://www.pushpastparalysis.org/product/push-past-paralysis-in-mind-heart-body-spirit-meditation

I look forward to connecting with you, working with you and sharing with all of you who have remained with me all this time and to all of you just now joining the ride. I’d say buckle up, but we all know I don’t even use a seatbelt in the wheelchair!

Push Past Mental Paralysis

Today is World Mental Health Day. A perfect day for me to talk about how paralysis doesn’t just have to be physical. We all have struggles that come from within us as well that may be invisible to the outside world.

Everything starts from inside of us. Whether we can or can’t do something always begins with our mind and our drive. We all face road blocks in life. More times than not, they’re only blocks because we perceive them as such. We become paralyzed in place and seemingly can’t move forward. I don’t believe in the word can’t, but if it does exist, it’s only temporary.

There’s a way around every obstacle (and excuse) in life, especially the ones our own brains create, but also the ones others set for us. We still get to choose if we are going to let someone else stop us from achieving what we set out to achieve in life. Any obstacles that we have to push past because of another person is simply their own feelings about themselves and the world that they project onto others. Stop participating in the misery loves company pity parties. Don’t get sucked into that shit. Rise above it, especially if you struggle with mental health. It will only feed into it and make it worse. Our environments create habits and lifestyles very easily. Healthy people, places and things are vital to our wellbeing.

The shame and stigma around mental paralysis or mental health needs to end and be eradicated once and for all. You don’t have to live with it forever. Support is out there but it does you no good if you’re too afraid or ashamed to reach out and ask for it. There are also plenty of anonymous ways for you to reach out and get some support. You are not alone.

Mental health disorders or struggles are not permanent. They’re manageable and, in some case, curable. We can all overcome any trauma that we have endured. You’re not destined for failure and you most certainly should not wear it as a badge of honor or excuse as to why you’ve given up on yourself. There’s always hope.

Push Past Discrimination

I’ve been so torn the last few weeks. As a human being, as an American, as an empath. I don’t like so much as arguing, let alone violence. I want to do something.

So I’ve been reflecting a lot. Trying to find solutions amongst the images I cannot get out of my head; the killing of George Floyd, the riots and violence and also the rallies, marches and protests. I have never been one that likes to do something for one segment of any population. Even #PushPastParalysis goes way beyond the physical. People experience mental, emotional and spiritual paralysis all the time.

So I’ve decided that I’m going to begin a movement using my platform of just that, but unifying ANYONE who is discriminated against for ANY reason and find out how they too, Push Past Paralysis. What they’ve done and how they’ve done it against all odds. We ALL are discriminated against, no one is exempt from that and that INCLUDES those discriminated against because of the color of their skin.

No one can truly stop you but yourself. But so many people let what others say or do stop them from being themselves, loving and owning their individuality and being able to be their best. ‪The best way to beat discrimination is to not give into it. Do not look at yourself as the victim. ‪Never give up. ‬

I feel it’s my purpose to empower all who feel discriminated against, but you have to meet me half way. Don’t have a chip on your shoulder as if people are against you and have a wall up so we can’t support you because you’re choosing to stay in that mindset. You can’t have it both ways.

This is not going to be a meet up group where we all talk about our problems and how we feel. This is where we all are at our best and shining, doing what we do best. There is going to be a variety of things we all excel at and that’s the point.

I hope you’ll join me.

Being A Disabled Advocate & Pushing Past Paralysis

I was asked a question recently that I couldn’t give a short answer to, so I thought I’d vlog and blog about. The question was basically:

“Are you really disabled and how do you know the statistics when I have to search your page and still can’t find what your disability actually is?”

The answer is quite simple: I’m not defined by disability but that doesn’t mean I can’t advocate for those of us who have them AND, simultaneously, teach others how to push past paralysis themselves by living that way myself. The idea that I have to shout from the rooftops and identify with my disability is ridiculous. My username almost everywhere is “Push Past Paralysis”, you’d think that’d be enough. I guess not.

As far as how I advocate, it’s pretty simple. If you approach the world or people as if they are against you, you won’t get anywhere close to your mission being completed. That’s projection coming from YOU. Ask to sit down, converse, come to the table with facts, insight & drive. See how things unfold from that approach. You’d be surprised.

I have even more upsetting news for this person and any others who think like him. I live even LESS consumed by my disability in real life. The only reason I even address it online is because I like to connect with people and hope to help those struggling in any way with their own “paralysis” (whether in mind, body or spirit) with my story.

Granted, this person was kind of whacky and proceeded to demand information about my disability from my friends after I’d blocked him. Had he asked in a nice way and wasn’t so aggressive about it, we could have had a dialogue. Like I said, I did want to address the question for anyone else wondering for themselves, which is exactly why I’m posting this blog and why I made a YouTube video.

I hope you enjoy it and will subscribe to my channel for many similar videos!

The Disabled Are The Truly Forgotten Men & Women Of America

I wanted to run some numbers by you, to give a little perspective to the political climate today.

An estimated 54 million Americans are living with disabilities.

$200 Billion per year is supposed to be allocated to American people living with disabilities.

People living with disabilities are among 20% of the world’s poorest people.

The unemployment rate among people living with disabilities is around 88%.

Between 785 and 975 million people 15 years old and up are living with disabilities.

Doctors are significantly undertrained in the field of disabilities, let alone for specific disabilities. Let’s not even get into how people living with disabilities are treated in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.

The sick part is that the funds for all of this are approved, but where are they going? Not to those of us living with disabilities. I’m no mathematician, but something isn’t adding up!

Now let’s shift gears a little bit...

There were 10.7 million illegal aliens living in the United States in 2016. The net cost to state, local and federal US government is approximately $116 billion per year. Yes, it fluctuates based on the number of illegals currently here and does not count when an illegal commits a crime and how much that costs the government. 56,000 illegal aliens are in our prison system. In 2018, 1.7 million pounds of narcotics have been seized, 17,000 adults were arrested with criminal records which included 6,000 gang members and there’s a huge human trafficking issue.

Tell me why and how it’s ok for even a small amount of legal American citizens to be suffering, while we welcome and help illegal aliens, many of whom harm our citizens whether by physical harm or smuggling drugs through our borders? How is that logically ok with anyone?!

I’m a conservative self sufficient woman, despite my disability. I’m working hard to not need my monthly check, despite being entitled to it. However, I’m very aware that many of my fellow Americans are suffering greatly and can not help but need to rely on the government to help them. People living with disabilities deserve to live as well as the average American, and maybe even get better help on living more independently as much as possible. Instead, they are being taken advantage of, under cared for and neglected and many, I would bet, don’t even realize it. It is sickening to me and it’s gone on for far too many decades!

Bottom line, a wall would save American lives of every gender, color and ability. It will also free up funds that are supposed to be going to Americans that need it and are entitled to it!

I’m doing Paulie Calafiore’s new 123 Challenge for the Mind Body & Spirit!

Nice to see someone who isn’t using “empowerment” to shit all over someone else. Gotta show support for one of my favorite people, Paulie Calafiore, on his upcoming 3 Step program, which helps me in my own New Years’ Resolution to focus on myself more... SWIPE! Steps out of order for video on purpose. The correct order is

Step 1: Focus on success

My upcoming Mind Body Spirit course #PushPastParalysis

Step 2: Focus within/mental health
Meditation with crystals as well as re-reading self help books.

Step 3: Focus on health/wellness/fitness I gotta do my favorite exercise my favorite personal trainer fitness instructor Paulie Calafiore taught me. I love the ab roller! Using this thing gives you a full body workout in minutes! 💪

The 17th Anniversary Of 9/11/01

It seems every year, in the days approaching the anniversary of 9/11/01, I find myself just as passionate as I was on the day it happened. I’m always proudly patriotic, but being from NY, it’s hard not to go right back to that day.

Where were you when the world stopped turning, on that September day?

https://youtu.be/KNsfx_4k-JA

I was in homeroom. My dad picked me up and I thought something happened to my grandmother who was still alive but sick at the time. She has since passed. I had no concept of the fact that the World Trade Center had been hit or what that meant. I guess I just used to go by “Twin Towers” more often. When I got home, my family had the news on and it was devastating.

The days, weeks, months and years that followed were sad but brought this country together unlike anything I’ve seen before. What’s happened to us? Have we forgotten? Why are we not just as proud to be Americans? Why are we not just as angry at our enemies, both foreign and domestic, who have proven time and again for decades that all they do is let us down? I understand it’s a hard pill to swallow for some, but the proof is in the pudding and most of it is not conspiracy theories.

Have you forgotten? https://youtu.be/VpoudLoc8sY

This president is doing everything he can to give us our country back and so many are blind and ungrateful for it. Not me. I see it. I’ve seen the corruption, living in the NY swamp all my life, and it’s sickening to see people try to take down the first man that’s ever tried, and actually is succeeding, in giving us our country back. It’s personal to him, just as it is to me. He’s been taking notes for decades and it’s time for the revenge and to give us our country back. He’s forgotten nothing.

The world today should be just as much about politics and party lines as it was on 9/11/01 to the average American. Which is not at all. Its about cleaning up the messes this country has been left in for years. The swamp is on both sides and we’re draining it. It’s about freedom, it’s about patriotism and being loyal to and damn proud to be an American, where at least we know we’re free.

9/11 is also another reason why I stand for the American flag!

Why Should Personal Mistakes In A Public Figures’ Life Negate All Of The Good They’ve Done?

must say, it’s been awhile since I’ve felt the need to write one of these blogs. Maybe there have been reasons to do so since my last one, but I’ve been busy living my life. However, it doesn’t mean that I won’t stand by people I love, so here I am...

As you may have found out, Paulie Calafiore is once again under fire. This time for alleged cheating allegations on girlfriend Danielle Maltby. I feel weird even bringing this up to be honest and the only reason I am is because of the storm it’s causing across the internet. Literally everything bad people have said about Paulie during his time on Big Brother 18 in 2016 is being regurgitated.

So here’s what I think. Paulie and Danielle are both public figures, I get that. But they are also human beings. I do not condone cheating, however, it is also not my relationship nor is it any of my business OR yours. I don’t understand why people are so quick to demonize nowadays over personal mistakes and make up their own stories and conclusions as to how everyone involved should feel or what they should do. It really reminds me of the term “fake news.”

If Paulie committed an actual crime, I could see the judgment. I could even see being hurt on Danielle’s behalf if you’re a fan of hers. However, cheating is a mistake. A PERSONAL mistake. He’s done nothing to anyone else but Danielle (and if he’s ever actually cheated before.) Unless someone does something personal to me, I’m not jumping on any bandwagons to demonize and hate on them. It does not make him a bad person and it most certainly does not take away anything from my personal experiences with him over the years. He and his family have been nothing but loving and amazing people to me. He’s done so much good for so many people, namely through his charity The Rise Up and I’m sorry but something happening in his personal relationship does not and should not negate all of that. It is by no means a jab at any of the causes he supports. Cheating is a bad thing, of course, however it is not to be compared to rape, abuse or any of the other things people are claiming Paulie is. People REALLY need to learn the difference in that all across the board. Which brings me to my next point...

I will never understand why haters follow or comment on everything someone does whom they can’t stand. Some even take it steps further and harass their family, friends, people they associate with through business and supporters. It’s absolutely ridiculous to me. People have too much time on their hands if all they’re going to do is hate. There is more than enough talent to follow than to concentrate so much of your 24 hours in a day on people you don’t like or support. Spread love, not hate.

I don’t care what anyone else plans to do, but come Tuesday, June 12th, I will once again be repping #TeamPaulie during his stint on “The Challenge” on MTV! Here is Paulie’s personal statement on what has transpired. I believe the LEAST we can do is grant his wish for privacy.

Self Love & Self Care Is Expressing Gratitude to God

We are in a time where we need constant validation, but are often the last to give it to ourselves. We always need or want someone else to tell us how great we are our give us our value. That’s the name of the game when it comes to social media especially. It’s all about the clicks, likes and comments instead of validating ourselves.

Unfortunately, people are quite selfish. You’re going to be an afterthought more than enough times in your life to other people, don’t make one of those people you. Being selfish is NOT the same thing as having self love and self care. If you’re able to take care of, value and love yourself while also wanting to help and give to others, that is the ultimate goal for self love and self care. If you’re going to love yourself and show no love to anyone else, that’s conceit.

Gratitude is a game changer. It can truly turn your life completely around for the better. The law of attraction will ensure that the more grateful you are, the more you will have to be grateful for. If you’re not grateful for who God made you to be and for what you already have, why should you get more? God doesn’t make mistakes. You’re here for a purpose but it’s up to you to figure out what that is for you.

I know sometimes that’s easier said than done in the midst of hard times. However, if you can’t bring yourself to be grateful, at least trust that God has a plan and knows what He’s doing.

Happy Birthday to Our Beautiful, Legal Immigrant First Lady, Melania Trump!

It’s funny to me, but yet very sad. Melania is everything the liberals and Democrats should love; she’s beautiful, an immigrant who fled a communist country, speaks multiple languages and is a strong woman.

Yet people like Chelsea Handler and the rest of the main stream, fake news media refuse to interview her because they “wouldn’t understand her because of her heavy accent.” Am I the only one who picks up on the hypocrisy here?! She is everything the left should be salivating over!

I’ll tell you why they don’t like her. She stands for everything REAL about America. She legally came here from Slovenia, for one thing. She has an imperfect husband and chooses to stand by him and she puts her child first above all. The hissy fit people had over Barron finishing the school year out in NY was astounding! She’s his mother, first and foremost, mind your own business. For the party of live and let live, they’re sure up a lot of people’s personal business.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room, shall we? Apparently, we have to treat Donald Trump and his alleged affairs the same way we treated Bill’s, and yet insult his wife relentlessly. The difference, however, is clear. Up until he launched his political campaign, Donald Trump was a private citizen. If he wanted to be a pig, he could. Bill Clinton, however, used the Oval Office so it became our business. Further, up until #metoo, women would brag about having sex with multi-billionaires like Donald Trump. No one was crying rape.

Being in the public eye comes with having to deal with the hate thrown at you, I fully understand that. I’m sure Melania does, too. But she shouldn’t have to. There should be SOME line drawn for attacking someone whose only crime is that her husband is trying to save this country from the REAL crimes that have been committed here. I sincerely hope she enjoys her day today, with family and friends, as well as well wishes from many across America and the world. She deserves nothing less!

An Ordinary American Is Exactly Who Arizona Needs To Do Extraordinary Things

There are a few things I pride myself on. One is being able to snuff out fake and disingenuous people and another is supporting people I truly believe in, especially under the toughest of circumstances. All my chips are usually on the underdog. I’ve found these qualities to be an asset as I get older, in general, and also when deciding whom to support that’s ultimately going to make decisions that affect me as an American Citizen.

I’m from NY. I appreciate honesty and bluntness. I know it’s “nicer” to some people to be told exactly what they want to hear or a watered down version of the truth. But that just magnifies the problem. I would much rather know what I’m up against and be able to figure out my next move from there. Like him or not, President Trump does that and if you ignore the trivial banter, the numbers coming out prove that his strategy is effective. The best part is that I don’t even think it’s a strategy. He’s in his 70’s, that’s just who he is!

If there’s one thing I don’t find relatable about the president, it’s that he’s a multi-billionaire. I disagree that his family got him where he is, because HE turned a million dollar loan into the Trump business it is today. However, the average American grinds and works, sometimes paycheck to paycheck and never reaches that level. For this same reason, I can’t get behind the idea of Oprah Winfrey running either.

On the opposite end, I know for a fact that there are many politicians who get into the business because it’s a job that’s going to line their pockets for decades, potentially making them more than what they were doing before entering into the lion’s den. We call that the swamp and we need someone to drain it. We need a happy medium...how about a guy who isn’t filthy rich, but is successful and has been through hell and back enough times, in different ways, to be able to truly inspire us all about what the American Dream really is?

Over a year ago, I stumbled upon a YouTube channel and twitter account that I quickly began to follow. It was some guy named Brenden Dilley from Arizona who sounded like he should be in NY. He was blunt, honest and may have swore a little (we’ll get to the title of his book in a second.) I took to him pretty quickly, being a no nonsense woman from NY who has chosen not to be a victim to my disability. Like him, I’m also a life coach and author and really appreciate his approach. When you hear the term “life coach”, you usually think of a structured way of getting you into gear to meet your goals. Nah, he was also a personal trainer and uses that kind of motivation in everything he does. I swear we’re related in some way. Or we should be.

Once I started to tune into news about the 2016 election, Brenden started sharing his periscopes about politics on his twitter. He has a unique way of tying in life lessons (that you can find in his book) into politics, making sense of them that way and talking about how to solve those types of problems. In November, I finally managed to get my hands on his book, “Still Breathin’: The Wisdom & Teachings Of A Perfectly Flawed Man.”

(For my review of the book, go to my blog & video

I’ve read my share of self help books, and I see why he doesn’t consider it your average self help book. It’s a great book for anyone in your life (or you, yourself) who needs help but is resistant to it or scoffs at the idea of seeing someone for help with their issues. Who WOULDN’T want help from a guy who doesn’t even know just how humble it is to admit you’re flawed from the second someone spots your book and its title? So why am I telling you all this in a political blog? Because someone who sounds NOTHING like a politician is EXACTLY who we need to start electing!

You know how I know that Brenden Dilley is exactly who Arizona District 8 needs? EVERYONE is silent about him, despite the fact that he ran in under 2 months before the primary, with 200+ more signatures than were required for his petition to run and almost $50,000 in small donations. Did I also mention that just a short time before all this began, he gained full custody of his beautiful daughters? That shows incredible character in my opinion. It still baffles me that everyone is being so quiet about him, yet I know that means he’s exactly who we need in this country. Literally, everyone has kept his campaign hush hush, except his supporters and the news show “Your Voice America” which can be found at https://www.yourvoiceamerica.tv/

He’s real, honest and genuine. Something NOT seen in any politician of my lifetime. If I had to pick between him, Oprah or, yes, even Trump, I’d back him 100%. For now, I did hear Arizona is supposed to be amazing for those of us in wheelchairs...if only they had a beach too!

Here is a short list on where Brenden stands on certain issues:

Build the Wall
Pro life
Pro second amendment
Has legislation written for education and credit reform, as well as a bill for our amazing first responders
Pro Religious freedom
Congressional term limits
And more!

Election is 2/27/18

District 8 consists of: Peoria, Phoenix, Sun City West, El Mirage, Surprise, New River, Anthem, Glendale, Black Canyon City, Wickenburg, Litchfield Park, Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, Youngtown, Waddell, Cave Creek

Governor Kasich Signs Down-Syndrome Abortion Ban In Ohio

Let me start by saying that I’m no fan of Governor John Kasich, but I’m a fan of the abortion ban for Down-Syndrome babies. It is possible that someone you don’t particularly like will do something you 100% support. If there is one time where I’m totally and completely against abortion, completely anti-abortion...it is on the subject of disabilities!

My parents were given a 50/50 chance I’d live & even less of a chance I’d be a “normal” kid. My point in this is that you never know, so why rob any child of a full life because a doctor scares the shit out of you as a parent?

When you have sex, you know there is a chance you’re going to get pregnant if you don’t take proper precautions. Even then, there is no guarantee. I’m of the belief that any responsible adult should also take into account that their child could, potentially, be born with a disability. If you aren’t okay with that, it is up to you to take the precautions and NOT take it out on the child, who needs you...or at least someone, to take care of them. If you truly can’t take the thought or the pressure, give them to a family who will love them the way they deserve to be loved. Give them to a family who will help them realize their true potential and prove doctors (and you) wrong.

It is up to you, as the parent, to raise your child to be strong, independent, kind hearted and a slew of other things. In my opinion, that goes quadruple for a child with a disability. Yes, it is a huge responsibility and I do understand being scared. But open your eyes. Stop looking for what scares you. You’re sure to find it if you look for it. Instead, look for the success stories. There are a lot of us out there and, speaking for myself, I’m more than willing to help.

The Misconception of What Feminism Really Means

We live in a time where apparently there’s a new definition to every term we thought we knew. Feminism is the newest one...

Feminism, by definition, means “the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the quality of the sexes.”

That says equality not superiority. Read it again if you don’t believe me. It’ll say the same thing. Then again, we live in a society where facts no longer matter and public opinion is judge and jury as far as sexual allegations that seem closely associated with the feminism movement.  Not every man is bad and evil. I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is. Masculinity is still sexy and not evil, wrong, too aggressive or what have you.

I have a special message for women who claim that they didn’t speak up sooner about sexual harassment or assault because they were told and made to feel that assault was normal. Listen to your own guidance. If your experience taught you anything (which when you’ve truly forgiven and healed, it should) let it be that you hold your own power. If it feels wrong, speak up. However, do so to the proper authorities and don’t make a spectacle of yourself and try to take down the entire male species based on your own experience.

To the real victims, I’m sorry that opportunists make it harder for you to be believed. To the women who simply want to be the better species, who crave attention and/or think all women should be blindly believed and all men are bad despite facts or lackthereof...SHAME ON YOU!
